Brodeur creates buzz over bulbs

On the ice, Martin Brodeur is known for making incredible saves. Thursday in Newark, he helped spread the word about an important cause: saving energy. Brodeur was a guest speaker at Project Porchlight’s “Salute to Success,” which celebrated the program’s distribution of more than one million compact fluorescent light bulbs to New Jersey residents. In two years, the program reached more than 300 communities in the Garden State, saving New Jersey residents an estimated $78 million on their electricity bills.  Read more...

Residents from all over the state are invited to join Project Porchlight New Jersey for a “Salute to Success” Celebration on Thursday, June 3 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Military Park in Newark, New Jersey. There is so much to celebrate: Since 2008, Project Porchlight has distributed more than one million energy-efficient compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to residents across the state! We have reached more than 300 New Jersey communities, where we have registered and trained more than 2,600 volunteers.  Read more...

Project Porchlight Energizes Seniors in South Orange, NJ

The Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC) provides independent senior citizens with suitable living accommodations and related services, enabling them to express their Jewish affiliations through services and practices consistent with all approaches to Judaism. On December 16, JCHC’s Village Apartments in South Orange, New Jersey, held an event to help residents learn more about energy efficiency. One Change Named ENERGY STAR Advocate of the Year

One of Canada’s leading grassroots environmental organizations, One Change, was recognized as 2009 ENERGY STAR Advocate of the Year by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) at the annual ENERGY STAR Recognition Awards ceremony. The May 25 event took place at Ottawa’s historic Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel, and brought together many of the more than 800 manufacturers, utilities, governments, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from across Canada that work to promote energy efficiency and the ENERGY STAR brand.  Read more...

One Change named United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) partner

One Change empowers people to believe that simple actions matter and to make smart choices that protect the environment. The Ottawa-based NGO was founded by a group of friends in 2005 on the belief that by making even one simple action accessible to everyone, broader engagement and participation in climate change would result. We were right—in the past four years our message has spread to millions of people across North America, inspiring them to take action for the environment. As a testament to this, One Change was recently named the first North American not-for-profit grassroots partner of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).  Read more...
