Ottawa, August 9, 2011 – One Change is pleased to announce that it has received a $78,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The announcement was made earlier today by Ottawa Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi and OTF representative Levit Koloko, who were both on hand to celebrate the announcement of this new funding.
The two-year grant will be used to help One Change develop a volunteer-management strategy that addresses recruitment, training, retention, best practices and long-term engagement plans.
“One Change is a truly inspiring organization, and I am thrilled that they have received funding through the Trillium Foundation,” said Yasir Naqvi, MPP for Ottawa Centre. “The success of One Change has been grounded in their grassroots engagement, and this grant will allow them to grow their volunteer base and give even more people the opportunity to effect change in our community.”
“We are thrilled to have been awarded this grant from the Trillium Foundation,” said Stuart Hickox, President and Founder of One Change. “This gives us an opportunity to develop a program that fosters ongoing engagement with our volunteer base, ensures that we provide our volunteers with a rewarding experience, and also builds relationships that will help us staff future campaigns.”
Since 2005, One Change has brought together hundreds of community leaders and thousands of volunteers across North America to be local spokespeople for its energy conservation messages.
One Change empowers people to believe that simple actions matter and to make smart choices that protect the environment.
