Since 2007, they have eliminated or recycled more than 4,000 tonnes of cardboard, plastic and metal, in addition to approximately 13 million pounds of lead acid batteries.

Cory Booker
The Honorable Cory A. Booker, is the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey. He took the oath of office as Mayor of New Jersey’s largest city on July 1, 2006 following a sweeping electoral victory. Elected with a clear mandate for change, Mayor Booker has begun work on realizing a bold vision for the City. Newark’s mission is to set a national standard for urban transformation by marshalling its resources to achieve security, economic abundance and an environment that is nurturing and empowering for individuals and families.
Mayor Booker’s political career began in 1998, after serving as Staff Attorney for the Urban Justice Center in Newark. He rose to prominence as Newark’s Central Ward Councilman. During his four years of service from 1998-2002, then-Councilman Booker earned a reputation as a leader with innovative ideas and bold actions, from increasing security in public housing to building new playgrounds. This work was the foundation for his leadership as Mayor. For this work, he has been recognized in numerous publications, including, among others, Time, Esquire, New Jersey Monthly (naming him as one of New Jersey’s top 40 under 40), Black Enterprise (naming him to the Hot List, America’s Most Powerful Players under 40) and The New York Times Magazine.
Mayor Booker received his B. A. and M. A. from Stanford University, a B. A. in Modern History at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and completed his law degree at Yale University.
Jenine Tankoos
Jenine Tankoos is an outstanding volunteer from the One Change Project Porchlight program in New Jersey. Jenine is Chair of the Environmental Commission of her town in New Jersey and hosts a local television show about green issues. Jenine also runs a portrait photography business, known as J9 Photo Design. Jenine hopes that more people will continually come to realize that small actions in their daily lives add up to big changes for environmental protection. In her career as an environmental scientist, Jenine held several positions with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency working on issues including environmental education, landfill regulation, recycling programs, and the Superfund Program. She coordinated the production of EPA Region II’s first State of the Environment Report, which had over 15,000 copies distributed. Additionally, Jenine worked for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection where she educated residents of the Croton watershed about the ways in which their behaviors affect New York City’s water supply.
Jenine has a B.A. from Barnard College of Columbia University and an M.S. in Ecology from Fordham University.
Matt Golden
Matt Golden is the co-founder and president of Recurve. Prior to founding the company in 2004, Matt worked as an Energy Consultant, helping homeowners and businesses develop solar power systems. He soon realized that he was offering only a point solution and was not truly addressing most homeowners’ desires to make their homes and lives more sustainable. Matt developed the concept for Recurve to meet this market demand by providing a single, full-service resource and a brand homeowners can trust to help them improve the comfort, health, and efficiency of their home.
Matt was recently recognized by the Building Performance Institute as the first ever recipient of the Tony Woods Award for Excellence in Advancing the Home Performance Industry. He speaks extensively on building science and integrated green design to groups such as the AIA (American Institute of Architects), West Coast Green, Build It Green, and others. He is author of a number of articles for Home Energy Magazine and has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Forbes, New York Times, and the Ellen Degeneres Show. Matt currently resides on the following boards: Department of Energy (DOE) Home Performance Council, Building Performance Institute (BPI), California Building Performance Contractors Association (CBPCA), and, Fine Home Building Magazine Green Building Advisory Board, and Efficiency First.
Matt holds a bachelors degree in foreign relations from Georgetown University.
